It's tough to protect your heart from everything life throws your way. But when it comes to keeping your heart healthy and preventing heart disease, protection is crucial.
As we all know, February is “Heart Month” and, as heart and cardiovascular disease remain the Number 1 killer in our society, what better time to discuss new and novel approaches to a universal problem.
The doctors from the International Health & Wellness Center, Dr. Michael Barber, Internist and Cardiologist (MD) along with Dr. Karly Powell, a board-certified Doctor of Naturopathy (ND) and an expert in metabolic medicine, hormonal health and healthy aging, will team up to discuss focusing on not just the problem of cardiovascular disease, but the true underlying causes and sources – inflammation, stress, diet, inactivity.
They will also discuss a different approach to Cardiovascular disease – one that combines the best of traditional allopathic medicine with the best of naturopathic, functional and complementary medicine – a true Integrative Cardiovascular program we term “Cardiometabolic”. As cardiovascular diseases are really a combination of problems including poor diet, inadequate exercise, vascular (blood vessel) and whole body inflammation and heredity, an approach targeting these issues and managing them using metabolic and hormonal intervention in combination with diet, exercise, supplements and, in some cases genetic evaluation, will allow the causative mechanism(s) of the problem to be identified and addressed.
